Which ergonomic accessories to choose for work?

Back support, anti-fatigue mat, ergonomic mouse, wrist support,... They are often not present in the workplace, but these ergonomic items are certainly valuable for health and effectiveness. Let's take a closer look at the products that take care of you, from head to toe!Which ergonomic accessories to choose for work?

Ergonomics: a question of health and efficiency

What if we start with a short definition? Ergonomics is the quantitative and qualitative research with a focus on improving working conditions and increasing productivity. Thank you Mr Larousse!

That said, ergonomics are not always present. The workplace, for example, is linked to numerous complaints. Whether you stand up for a full working day or sit down at a desk (the famous combination chair-desk-computer), this gets tiring after a while. And that's only normal! The human body is made to hunt (for a partridge or forest fruit), but not to keep it in a static position for 8 hours continuously. Result: the joints are strained, the back blocks, the eyes get tired,...

But let us not acquiesce to our fate: several solutions exist, and the good news is that they shouldn't cost much at all, and are easy to install.

Ergonomics from head to toe

Relax the eyes
We often don't think about it, but light plays an important role in ergonomics in your workspace. When you have a headache or tired eyes at the end of the day, an ergonomic desk lamp can be a remedy. By proposing different light intensities and lighting modes depending on your activity (reading, relaxing, working, …), the lamp respects the sensitivity of the eyes, which changes during the day.
Keeping the neck and vertebrae straight
At a computer workstation, more tension is exerted on the neck, vertebrae and loins than appears. The solution: a screen support arm! A surprise for you? However, thanks to its numerous adjustment options (height, rotation, inclination, etc.), this accessory is the ideal tool to avoid muscle tension. But don't let this stop you from doing some stretching exercises every now and then ;-)

Support the wrists and hands
Click click click click click... It has been established that people click on the computer mouse on average 3048 times a day. It would even burn 5 kcal. Admittedly, we prefer to recommend a real sport, because - as far as we know - there is no championship in mouse clicks yet. What does already exist are the wrist rests, mouse pads and ergonomic mice. This equipment, specially designed to maintain the natural position of the hand, wrist and forearm, saves you from tendonitis by supporting your wrist and obliging you to assume a good position. This may seem surprising (or even strange) at first, but you will undoubtedly enjoy better comfort (and health)!
Ergonomics from head to toeSupport the back and loins
Since everyone has its own morphology, sometimes even the best chair cannot be enough to find the right posture for your back and loins. In that case, the back support appears on the scene. This accessory, composed of shape-remembering cushions and/or a breathable mesh, is available in different shapes (focusing on the upper or lower back). In addition, it is also practical, extremely comfortable and compatible with any kind of chair. In short, we love it!

Say goodbye to heavy legs
... and swollen feet at the end of the workday! With a well designed ergonomic footrest blood flow is easily stimulated. Attention, this does not prevent you from leaving your office chair every now and then ;-)

Relieve the feet, ankles and knees
For those who work all the day straight up or for the fans, the sit/stand workstations and the anti-fatigue mats are designed to encourage movement. How is this possible? Simply thanks to the dense and flexible material, which significantly reduces the pressure in the joints.

As mentioned, there are various tips and small, simple amenities to introduce to the workplace from the bottom to the top. So don't wait until you're in pain before you start taking care of yourself!
