More than ever, new technologies are filling our daily lives for better or for worse! Stress, sleep disorders, burn-out, headaches ... Specialists have started to measure the effects of hyper-connectivity on our health and the results are not exactly nice! What if we changed our bad habits?
Hunting for screens
According to the CSA, there were on average 5.6 screens per household in 2018, and that doesn't even take into account the screens used at work! Although screens have different uses, they all have one thing in common: they captivate the eye and the attention. The culprit? Blue light! Present in all screens, blue light disturbs the biological rhythm by keeping the brain "awake", resulting in sleep disorders but also concentration problems, whatever your age. So try to cut down on unnecessary screen time. Do you need your computer for every meeting, for example?
F.lux, the anti-blue light trick
F.lux is free downloadable software and changes the colour of your screen by following the rhythm of the sun, with a soft light in the morning, whiter light during the day and softer light in the evening. Your eyes will love it.
Spending your evenings without screens
Does your brain find it hard to switch off at the end of the day? Put away the TV remote control and have "screen-free" evenings: sport, cooking, board games, reading, dancing, drawing... These leisure activities will gently prepare your body for the sleep phase while preserving your eyes.
Deactivate the pro mailbox
Between us, it would be best to never (ever) install your business email on your smartphone, but hey, we know, it's hard. However, you can control your connection time by turning off your email or at least the notifications in the evening. This will prevent you from being tempted to check your emails after work hours.
Create smartphone-free zones
Who hasn't felt alone in the presence of people captivated by their phone? To preserve the good times with family, friends or even colleagues, create spaces without smartphones in, for example, the break room, the restaurant or at home and make room for real conviviality.
The bedroom: a new chance for the good old alarm clock radio
Using your smartphone as an alarm clock, yes, it's convenient... but it's a trap! Having it at hand tempts you to use it before going to bed, which is very bad for your sleep. Leave your smartphone in the living room and invest in a clock radio or daylight alarm clock.
