Printer, use, weight, formats, colours... The choice of paper for your company depends on a multitude of factors. Here are our tips for making the best purchase! How to choose the right printer paper?
The choice of paper may seem trivial for a company, but it is the paper that makes the first impression on your interlocutors, even before they read the content on it. You don't write love letters on checkered paper, you don't print invoices on red paper and you don't print a diploma on 50 g paper! And apart from the image you want to convey to your customers or partners, there are other aspects to be taken into account: practicality, functionality, legibility, the quality of the white... In short, the choice of paper must not and cannot be left to chance.

So, are you ready for a bit of paperwork? To make the right choice, here are some questions you should ask yourself :)

Which paper for what type of printer?

The quality of the printout of a document depends on three things: the quality of the equipment (printer or copier), the printing parameters and the choice of paper. Unless you are an artist who does everything by hand, choosing the right paper means studying the printer.

Inkjet printer paper: objective zero smudging! With its specific surface treatment, this paper allows for fast ink drying and has an excellent absorption level to obtain vivid colors.Laser printer paper: straight to the finish line! Laser printer paper can withstand the heat of the laser printing system without becoming distorted. In general slightly more expensive than inkjet paper, but capable of producing quality documents for both fast text output and color graphics.Compatible formats: eh yes, obviously! The question of the format must be asked when you buy your reams of paper. A4, A3, A5... It is essential to list what you need, but it is especially crucial to check the compatible formats of your printer to avoid any bad surprises upon delivery.

Which paper for what purpose?

If you want to find the right paper, you should also consider what you are going to use it for.

Photo paper: for printing visuals, there can be no debate! The best combination is photo paper and an inkjet printer. This duo gives the best results.Multifunctional white paper: is the all-purpose paper! For your faxes, emails, copies, drafts, presentations, reports... white multipurpose paper offers a very appreciable polyvalence, it is suited for inkjet and laser printers or copiers. It allows you to avoid changing paper for every new use, but beware, it will not be suitable for specific prints. Note: its whiteness is measured through the CIE index. The higher the index, the whiter the paper.Colored paper: to highlight certain pages or presentations, nothing beats paper in bright or pastel shades. Like multi-purpose paper, this paper is suitable for both laser and inkjet printers, but beware of legibility when printing color on color.

What paper grammage should you choose for your business?

For optimal reading comfort and good grip, the weight of the paper is also important. These are the most important points to consider:

Between 50 and 75 gsm: with this type of grammage, we aim for large quantity prints such as newspapers, advertising mail, etc. Being lighter, this paper allows for savings in purchasing, transportation and is - in fact - more eco-friendly!80 gsm: this is the most commonly used paper weight in business. Ideal for everyday printing and copying. 90 gsm: being more opaque, it is ideal for everyday double-sided printing.Between 100 and 120 gsm: especially reserved for important days and presentations. You will certainly make a good impression with this paper!Between 130 and 210 gsm: if you want to create a cover with large colored overlays for your presentations or contracts, this is the right paper weight for you.220 gsm and more: with this paper you just make a cardboard box.... or business cards for example ;-)
The finish is more a matter of taste: glossy, semi-glossy or matte, the choice is yours, but for the record, glossy or semi-glossy paper is generally reserved for photo prints.
Focus on recycled paper
Focus on recycled paper
If you want to give your company a green image and reduce your carbon footprint, recycled paper is the best choice! And contrary to popular belief, it is compatible with different types of printers and is as white as white :)
We hope these tips will help you make the right choice (and good impressions)!
