**What is Glögg?**
- In Scandinavia, Glögg is a popular spiced mulled wine during the Christmas period.
- It is generally made from red wine, almonds, raisins, orange peels, and spices.
**What is its origin?**
The origin of Glögg dates back to the 16th century: it was then called "hypocras" and was mainly drunk by messengers to warm up when they had to travel on horseback in very cold weather. It was attributed therapeutic virtues, hence its name recalling Hippocrates, considered as the "father of medicine".
It was in the early 19th century that it was given the name "Glögg" meaning "to shine" and "heat" in Swedish, due to its ability to make the face of the consumer glow and blush.
