Clairefontaine Pastelmat Pad No.5 is a trusted medium for the pastel market, featuring 360gsm sheets in a 24x30cm format, developed specifically for intensive pastel work and finished artworks.
The unique Pastelmat surface grips pigment exceptionally well, allowing artists to build multiple layers of pastel without saturation and without needing fixative between layers.
With a texture coarser than velour yet softer than sandpaper, Pastelmat delivers strong control while remaining comfortable to work on.
The paper retains its original properties when erased or worked wet, supporting techniques using water or alcohol without affecting texture or surface strength.
Each sheet is protected by a glassine divider, preserving the paper surface and finished work during storage and transport.
